Finnish baseball is opening its doors to an international audience once again. On 9 August 2026, Puna-Mustat will host The English Game, a Finnish baseball match produced entirely in English. The game will see Puna-Mustat take on Haminan Palloilijat in a Finnish Baseball 1st Division match at the Meilahti Finnish Baseball Field in Helsinki.
The match starts at 17:00 EEST (UTC+3), with the studio broadcast beginning 30 minutes earlier. The live production will be hosted by Iain Alba and Tony Jones, while Mikko Pirhonen will provide commentary from the field.
The event can be experienced in several ways. The recommended option is to join the crowd at Meilahti and experience Finnish baseball live with English commentary. The game will also be broadcast live on Ruutu+ in Finland and streamed globally on the Puna-Mustat YouTube channel. The YouTube recording will remain available afterwards, giving audiences around the world a chance to discover the sport in their own time.
Bringing Finnish Baseball to a Wider Audience
The idea behind The English Game is simple: make Finnish baseball easier to discover and understand for people who do not speak Finnish.
The English production is also aimed at Helsinki’s international community. By offering the game in English at the stadium, the club hopes to make Finland’s national sport more accessible to English-speaking residents and immigrants. Fans attending the game can enter the venue from 16:00, when the doors and VIP area open. Tickets cost €16 for regular admission, €11 for discounted groups and €60 for VIP. Children under 12 enter free of charge. The VIP ticket includes food and beverages as well as access to the VIP area.
